Local Histories, Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin

When you visit Hamburger Bahnhof you cannot see just one exhibition and leave, because there is so much more to explore every single time. Also, there has been a heat weave in Berlin so what better way to cool down than to stroll through the biggest and coldest space of the said museum.

Exhibition Local Histories brings us sculpture and various video installations from the second part of the 20th century onward. Spread out through numerous rooms (I’ve been so many times and I still don’t know the exact number, it feels endless) with each room varying in size, you never know what to expect before crossing the threshold.

There were many pieces I was astonished by, amused by or just baffled by, but that is one of the joys of this exhibition.

It is also a great introduction into modern and contemporary sculpture and installation art so definitely check it out until November 10.

If you find the time until Sunday, be sure to combine it with another lovely exhibition at Hamburger Bahnhof – Jack Whitten, that is closing this weekend.
